PERMIT VALID FOR:
In obtaining a disabled hunter permit, an individual identifies himself as meeting the qualifications of a disabled hunter. A disabled hunter can then have another individual apply for a disabled hunter companion permit which will allow that person to assist the disabled hunter in the field. The disabled hunter companion permit will allow the companion to assist the disabled hunter to dispatch and/or retrieve an animal wounded or killed by the disabled hunter.


PERMIT FEE: No charge.


OUALIFICATIONS FOR PERMIT:

1. Applicant may qualify as a disabled veteran with at least a sixty-five (65) percent physical disability. Written proof must be provided that the last official certification of record by the United States Department of Veteran's Affairs or any branch of the Armed Forces of the United States shows the person to is at least sixty-five (65) percent physically disabled.

2. Applicant may qualify based on physicians sworn statement of qualification. One of the following physical conditions must be met:

a. Is permanently unable to walk without the use of, or assistance from, a wheelchair, scooter, or walker;

b. Is restricted by lung disease to the extent the persons forced expiratory volume for one (1) second, when measured by a spirometry, is less than thirty-five (35) percent predicted, or arterial oxygen tension is less than fifty-five (55) mm/Hg on room air at rest;

c. Has a cardiac condition to the extent the persons functional limitations are classified in severity as Class III or Class IV, according to standards established by the American Heart Association;

d. Has a permanent, physical impairment that prevents the person from holding or shooting a firearm or bow in hand;

e. Has central visual acuity that permanently does not exceed 20/200 in the better eye with corrective lenses, or the widest diameter of the visual field.
