Wyoming Stalking Protection Orders Instructions are orders issued by the court to protect victims of stalking from further harassment or stalking. These orders can include requirements that the perpetrator stay away from the victim, refrain from contacting the victim, and/or not possess firearms. There are two types of Wyoming Stalking Protection Orders Instructions: temporary orders and permanent orders. A temporary stalking protection order is issued by a judge when there is an immediate need for protection from stalking. This type of order is usually issued without the perpetrator being present, and can last for up to 20 days. A permanent stalking protection order is issued by a judge after a court hearing in which both parties are present. This type of order can last for up to five years, and can be renewed if necessary. It includes all the requirements of the temporary order, as well as additional requirements such as that the perpetrator complete counseling, not possess or purchase firearms, and/or pay restitution. If an order is violated, the court may impose criminal penalties or civil penalties, such as a fine.
