Wyoming Reservation of Trade Name is a service provided by the Wyoming Secretary of State that allows businesses to reserve a name for their business to use in the state. The Reservation of Trade Name is an important step for any business owner to take in order to protect their business’s identity. Businesses may reserve a name for up to five years. There are two types of Wyoming Reservation of Trade Name: a Standard Reservation of Trade Name and an Enhanced Reservation of Trade Name. The Standard Reservation of Trade Name is the most basic form of protection and includes a search of records to ensure the name is not already in use. The Enhanced Reservation of Trade Name includes the Standard Reservation of Trade Name, plus adds a “Trademark Notice” to the Wyoming Secretary of State’s records and sends a “Notice of Trademark” to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
