Click on the down arrow at the bottom of the menu to expand it further. Insert a comment box. In the menu, you will see Insert Comment. Click this will show you an area where you can write a comment about your selection. Write your comment.

All Replies (51)If you change the doc to "View Only" the users can see any prior comments but they will not be able to comment or edit.

Google Drive is able to open Word documents, but the comments may not be visible. In order to view the comments, the paper must be converted to a Google document. Depending on your settings, the document may be converted automatically, If not, there are two ways to convert a Word document to a Google document.

To make your comment visible to someone, you can add them to the comment. They will receive an email notification with your comment. Tip: If someone has set their status to Out of office and you have permission to view their calendar, you will get a notification in the comment as you add them.
