Some best practices to prevent your issues from having a mistakenly set resolution, or/and the appropriate one are: Create a post function on the transition that leads to the "Done" status to set the resolution as something fixed: By doing to you are setting an appropriate and acceptable resolution.

In the Workflow Designer, select the transition. Click on Validators in the properties panel. Click on Add validator . Select Comment Required Validator from the list of validators.

The resolved date is automatically updated in Jira issues when you set a resolution for it, and a resolution must be set only when the issue is transitioned to the last status of the workflow ("Done", "Closed", etc.).

Go to the JIRA workflow editor, and find the transition during which you want to require comments. Choose Validators and Add Validator. Select the Field Required Validator. Add the Comment field to the required fields list.
