To customize a footnote or endnote: Click the reference number or mark in the body of the text or click Insert > Show Footnotes(for endnotes, click Insert > Show Endnotes).

The keyboard shortcut for adding a footnote reference is Command-Option-F; but if you want the citation brackets around the name of the citation within your body text, it looks like you'll need to double-click on the entry in the citations list at any rate.

The information given in a footnote includes the author, the title, the place of publication, the publisher, the date of publication and the page or pages on which the quotation or information is found.
