Cover pages can include the name of your school, your paper title, your name, your course name, your teacher or professor's name, and the due date of the paper. If you are unsure of what to include, check with your instructor.

The title page does not include a header or page number (see sample research paper). The second page (first page of text) includes a header with your surname and a page number (starting with the number one). Subsequent pages include headers with your surname and consecutive numbers.

To put a blank page into your Word document, place the cursor where you want the new page to begin and then click Insert > Blank Page. The blank page opens, ready for whatever you want to add. Another option when you need a little space is to insert a page break.

The title and the abstract are the most important parts of a research paper and should be pleasant to read. The title should be descriptive, direct, accurate, appropriate, interesting, concise, precise, unique, and should not be misleading.
