Use the same font throughout your paper. Exceptions: Within a figure image, use a sans serif font (e.g., Arial or Calibri) with a type size between 8 and 14 points. When presenting a footnote in a page footer, use the default footnote settings (e.g., 10-point font with single line spacing)

Click where you want to reference to the footnote or endnote. On the References tab, select Insert Footnote or Insert Endnote. Enter what you want in the footnote or endnote. Return to your place in the document by double-clicking the number or symbol at the beginning of the note.

In your text, click on where you want to reference the footnote. The footnote number should be placed after the punctuation, except for dashes and parentheses, where it should be placed before the dash and before the ending parenthesis. At the top of the page, click on the References tab, then click on Insert Footnote.

Footnotes are notes indicated in your text with numbers and placed at the bottom of the page. They're used to provide: Citations (e.g., in Chicago notes and bibliography) Additional information that would disrupt the flow of the main text.

Footnotes are positioned at the bottom of the page, whereas endnotes are positioned together on a page at the end of the document. A footnote or an endnote consists of two parts ? the note reference mark and the corresponding note text.

To insert a footnote automatically in a Word document: Click on the point in the text where the footnote should appear. Select the ?References? tab at the top and then click on ?Insert Footnote? Type the text you want into the footnote that appears at the bottom of the page.

APA does not recommend the use of footnotes and endnotes because they are often expensive for publishers to reproduce. However, if explanatory notes still prove necessary to your document, APA details the use of two types of footnotes: content and copyright.
