How Many Rounds Can You Carry in New York? No more than 7 to 10 rounds.

New York limits any person to putting seven rounds of ammunition into a magazine, unless the person is at an incorporated firing range or competition recognized by the National Rifle Association or International Handgun Metallic Silhouette Association, in which case the limit is ten rounds.

More than ten (10) rounds of ammunition regardless of when it was manufactured or when it was obtained. It also prohibits possession of a magazine if it is loaded with more than seven (7) rounds of ammunition, unless you are at a range.

It is now settled law that large-capacity magazines are illegal in California. On November 30, 2021, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that Penal Code 32310, which bans these devices, does not violate Second Amendment rights.

Connecticut limits magazine capacity to ten rounds for all types of firearms - both handguns and long-guns. With some exceptions, any magazine or device that holds more than ten rounds, is considered a "large capacity magazine," the possession of which constitutes a felony.

Bottom line: While it is not illegal to modify the rounds (though the MURDER is illegal), don't do it unless you know what you're doing since inaccuracy can cause you to lose some of your own body parts, because it may fragment even before it leaves the gun barrel causing blockage and/or explosion.

Since 2013, Connecticut law prohibits people from selling or purchasing high-capacity ammunition magazines that hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition. Existing owners before the law passed were allowed to keep the magazines.
