Alter Footnote Bulletin For Free

Tap exactly where you want the footnote number to go. Select the plus sign at the top and choose Footnote from that menu. Enter the footnote text. Zoom out and tap the checkmark if you're done editing.

This is one of those features in Google Docs that many people may have never noticed was there. Right-click on a numbered list (or go to Formats > Bullets & Numbering > List Options) and you can modify the prefix and suffix of the numbers (or letters) in your list.

To change the numbering in a list, tap the numbers with your cursor. A blue box will appear around all of the numbers. Then tap the specific number you want to change to select just that one. When the pale blue box around just that number appears, right-click on it.

If you want to change the formatting of the footnote text at the bottom of the page, select the Footnote Text Style. Click Modify, and then change the formatting options (font, size, and so on). For even more formatting options, click the Format button in the lower-left corner.

Footnotes are numbered notes that appear at the bottom of each page of your paper. Endnotes are formatted exactly the same as footnotes, but appear at the end of your paper, in one long list. For the first footnote/endnote, use a numeral in normal font starting with 1 and continue numbering in this manner.
