Watermark is a significant and useful feature in Microsoft Word 2010 which can be used to mark the Word document as confidential, sample, draft, or private. You can choose to add a standard or a custom watermark to Word document.

Double-click near the top of the page to open the header. Click the watermark to select it. (Try moving the cursor over the watermark until the cursor displays a four-headed arrow.) Drag the watermark where you want it on the page.

On the Layout tab, under Page Background, select Watermark. Choose Text. Type or edit your text for the watermark, or select a text watermark from the drop down menu, and then select the text formatting that you want. Tips:

Select where you want the watermark to be on the page. Select Design > Watermark > right-click the watermark you want, and select Insert at Current Document Position. The watermark appears as a text box.

Watermark is used to indicate the purpose of a document such as CONFIDENTIAL, DO NOT COPY, DRAFT, ASAP, URGENT, SAMPLE, etc. Microsoft Word allows you to add a watermark to your document.

Watermark is a background image that displays behind the text in the Word document. Watermark helps us to identify the manufacturer or brand through which the particular documents relate.

Remove a watermark Select Design > Watermark. (In Word 2010 or 2007, select Page Layout > Watermark.) Select Remove Watermark.

Use a custom watermarkOn the Design tab, select Watermark > Custom Watermark.Choose Picture Watermark and select a picture, or choose Text watermark and type your watermark text in the Text box.Click OK.

In the dialog, select Text watermark, select the text you want (CONFIDENTIAL), select Diagonal or Horizontal, and (this is the important part), clear the check box for Semitransparent. Instead of choosing one of the watermarks in the gallery, choose Custom Watermark... to open the Printed Watermark dialog.

Go to the Design tab and, in the Page Background group, select Watermark. (Depending on the version of Word, the path may be Page Layout > Page Background > Watermark.) To design a watermark, select Custom Watermark.
