Analyze Table Log For Free

ANALYZE TABLE works with InnoDB , NDB , and MyISAM tables. It does not work with views. ANALYZE TABLE is supported for partitioned tables, and you can use ALTER TABLE... During the analysis, the table is locked with a read lock for InnoDB and MyISAM .

Analyzing can be performed on the whole database or on specific table. The database or table does not get locked during this operation and your queries will perform better after this operation.

Table analysis identifies the dependencies among the columns of a table and proposes candidate keys. Subsequently, one candidate key must be confirmed by the user as the primary key. As you would then expect, a primary key determines all the values for the rest of the columns in the table.

ANALYZE requires only a read lock on the target table, so it can run in parallel with other activity on the table. The statistics collected by ANALYZE usually include a list of some of the most common values in each column and a histogram showing the approximate data distribution in each column.
