A table style is a collection of table formatting attributes, such as table borders and row and column strokes, that can be applied in a single step. A cell style includes formatting such as cell insets, paragraph styles, and strokes and fills.

Try it! Select a cell within your data. Select Home > Format as Table. Choose a style for your table. In the Format as Table dialog box, set your cell range. Mark if your table has headers. Select OK.

On the Home tab, in the Paragraph group, click Numbering. Note: To select a different number format, right-click a number in the list, point to Numbering, click Define New Number Format, and then select the options that you want.

Answer Open a blank Word document. In the top ribbon, press Insert. Click on the Table button. Either use the diagram to select the number of columns and rows you need, or click Insert Table and a dialog box will appear where you can specify the number of columns and rows. The blank table will now appear on the page.

Sort text Select a cell in the column you want to sort. On the Data tab, in the Sort & Filter group, do one of the following: To quick sort in ascending order, click. (Sort A to Z). To quick sort in descending order, click. (Sort Z to A).

On the Home tab, in the Styles group, click Format as Table. Click the table style that you want to use. Tips: Auto Preview - Excel will automatically format your data range or table with a preview of any style you select, but will only apply that style if you press Enter or click with the mouse to confirm it.

Sort data in a table Select a cell within the data. Select Home > Sort & Filter. Or, select Data > Sort. Select an option: Sort A to Z - sorts the selected column in an ascending order. Sort Z to A - sorts the selected column in a descending order.

After you create a table, you can format individual cells (spaces formed by the intersection of a row and a column) or entire rows and columns by aligning text in cells, resizing columns and rows, and adding borders, shading, or colors. All these changes can make the text inside the cells easier to read.

Click Home tab > arrow under Sort & Filter, and then click Sort Oldest to Newest, or Sort Newest to Oldest.

You can also change the format for an existing table by selecting a different format. Select any cell within the table, or range of cells you want to format as a table. On the Home tab, click Format as Table. Click the table style that you want to use.
