To edit a field's properties:Click the table name in the table bar of your app.Click Settings in the page bar, then click Fields on the Settings page.Click the field name to access its properties.Click the name of the field that you want to modify.Make the necessary changes, and then click Save.

Field settings can be accessed by right clicking on any row, column heading or subheading. Another way is the dropping area of fields. Similar to the value field settings, you can click on the little arrow head on the rows, or columns section to open the field settings.

While some properties are available in Datasheet view, some properties can only be set in Design view. To switch to Design view, right-click the table in the Navigation Pane and then click Design View. To see a field's properties, click the field in the design grid.

Using the Summarize Values By tab of the Data Field Settings dialog box, you can indicate whether the data item should be summed, counted, averaged, and so on, in the pivot table. By default, data items are summed. But you can also arithmetically manipulate data items in other ways.

PivotTable Fields is a Task Pane associated with a PivotTable.Fields represent the columns in your data range or Excel table, and will have check boxes. The selected fields are displayed in the report. Areas represent the layout of the report and the calculations included in the report.

Go to File, Options, Advanced. Scroll to the Data section. The first item should be Make Changes to the Default Layout of Pivot Tables. Click the button for Edit Default Layout.
