To link to the original Excel chart so that updates to the original data are reflected in the destination file, select Home > Paste > Use Destination Theme & Link Data. To embed the original chart so that you can edit it in place, select Home > Paste > Use Designation Theme & Embed Workbook.

To apply a template to an existing chart, right click the chart and choose Change Chart type. In the window that opens, select the Templates folder. Then choose a template and click OK. The template will then be applied to the chart.
