Outline font in British English noun. computing. a font format that makes use of fillable geometric outlines of letters and symbols, allowing fonts to be scaled up or down while still retaining their intended shape. Also called: vector font.

Launch Photoshop and type the text you want to outline or open an existing document. Go to the layers section, right-click the text layer, and select Blending Options. Mark the checkbox next to Stroke. Customize the size, position, blend mode, opacity, and color of the outline.

Generally, copyright law in the U.S. does not protect typefaces. Fonts may be protected as long as the font qualifies as computer software or a program (and in fact, most fonts are programs or software).

Select your text or WordArt. Click Home > Text Effects. Click the effect you want. For more choices, point to Outline, Shadow, Reflection, or Glow, and then click the effect you want.

Inline. Describes a typeface with white lines appearing inside the character strokes, sometimes intended to imitate carving or chiseling, as if the characters were carved in stone or wood, or to imitate engraving in metal. Inline typefaces are generally reserved for display work (examples: Delphian, Colonna, Castellar)

Vector fonts (including, and sometimes used as a synonym for, outline fonts) use Bezier curves, drawing instructions and mathematical formulae to describe each glyph, which make the character outlines scalable to any size.
