When you use the Word Mail Merge feature, Word merges a main document with a recipient list to generate a set of output documents: The main document contains the basic text that is the same in all of the output documents.

Merge Field MergeField is a Field element containing a reference to a data field by its name. When a template document is mail merged with the values from a data source, the data field information replaces the merge field. A merge field has two components: the merge field name and the merge field value : The merge field name is what we use as the title of this merge field in GetFeedback. The merge field value is the name of the data field or custom field in your database that we will pull this information from.

Merge fields are special tags used in your emails and templates that will be replaced with appropriate content. Note some merge fields require a contact record to work while others like {unsubscribe} or {view} do not. We recommend using your own logo for tags like unsubscribe so contacts feel comfortable.

Click or tap where you want the merge field. Choose the down-arrow under Insert Merge Field, and select a field. If you don't see your field name in the list, choose Insert Merge Field. Choose Database Fields to see the list of fields that are in your data source.

Merge fields let you save custom information about contacts, which can then be used to personalize campaigns. Each merge field has a corresponding merge tag, a string of text like *|FNAME|* .

Navigate to the location in the Word document where you want to insert a field. Click the Insert tab in the Ribbon. Click Quick Parts. Select Field. In the list of Field names, select a field. Under Field properties, select any properties or options you want.

Open Word, choose File > Options > Advanced. Under General, select the Confirm file format conversion on open check box. Choose OK. On the Mailings tab, choose Start Mail Merge > Step by Step Mail Merge Wizard.

On your Word document, highlight the field you want to populate with the data from Excel. On the Mailings tab, choose the 'Insert Merge Field' button, a list of the column headers on your saved excel document will drop down (i.e. Company Name, etc.). Choose the appropriate field you want to merge and choose Insert.
