Word automatically adds page breaks when add more content than can fit on one page, but sometimes you'll want to add a break somewhere else -- for example, if you're creating a new section in a long document or you want to create more space around an image or chart.

Go to Layout > Breaks > Page.Click or tap in the document where you want a page break.Go to Insert > Page Break.

Page break: Use a page break (in a word-processing document only) to move a line of text to the top of the next page or to start typing on a new page.

Insert a page break when you want to move to the beginning of the next page in your document. Many users, unaware of the page break feature, will simply mash the Enter key when they want to start a new page. That works too until you want to edit your document later.

In Microsoft Word, you can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Enter to insert a page break. If your printer is starting a new page or printing blank pages where it shouldn't, page breaks may be in the document. To verify the document contains no hidden page breaks, enable formatting marks.

On the Insert tab, click the Page Break command. Alternatively, you can press Ctrl+Enter on your keyboard. The page break will be inserted into the document, and the text will move to the next page.
