Certify Age Lease For Free

SCRIE helps eligible senior citizens 62 and older stay in affordable housing by freezing their rent. Tenants can keep paying what they were paying even if their landlord increases the rent. The landlord gets a property tax credit that covers the difference between the new and original rent amount.

For a two-year lease commencing on or after October 1, 2023 and on or before September 30, 2024: For the first year of the lease, 2.75%; and. For the second year of the lease, 3.20% of the amount lawfully charged in the first year, excluding any increases other than the first-year guideline increase.

Eligibility Criteria Have a combpined household income for all members of the household that is $50,000 or less; Spend more than one-third of your monthly household income on rent or maintenance; and. Be at least 62 years old.

(a) In order to qualify for SCRIE benefits the applicant must be 62 years of age or older. In order to qualify for DRIE benefits the applicant must be a person with a disability who is 18 years of age or older.

You may qualify for the NYC Rent Freeze Program if you meet both of these requirements: Rent an apartment that is rent regulated (rent controlled, rent stabilized, hotel stabilized or Mitchell-Lama) and; You are a senior citizen or have a disability.

It is not illegal to let someone live with you who is not on your lease. However, it is in your best interest to officially add someone to the rental agreement to make sure that everyone is held liable for paying and caring for the rental unit.

The Rent Guidelines Board adopts fair rent increases over lawful rents charged and paid on September 30, 2022. These rent adjustments will apply to rent stabilized apartments with leases commencing on or after October 1, 2022 and through September 30, 2023.
