California Notaries are not allowed to certify copies of any document except powers of attorney and journal records.

Remember, a PDF cannot be certified after it has been signed by any party, so if the document is to be certified, do so before sending it out for signatures. To certify a document without signing it: Go to Tools > Signatures > Certify Document. The Sign dialog box opens.
