Chart Name Release For Free

ReleaseName is the name you assigned to this installation instance. RevisionNumber is the value from the Helm history command. Namespace is the name space in which the BRM Kubernetes objects reside.

The release name is in the NAME column of the output of the helm ls command.

A Helm release name is the name of a specific installation of a Helm chart, which can of course be installed multiple times in a Kubernetes cluster. Without a Helm release name prefixed to our resources, we can get name collisions that makes installations fail or misbehave after installation.

Names should be unique to a release. So we might want to generate a name field by inserting the release name. TIP: The name: field is limited to 63 characters because of limitations to the DNS system. For that reason, release names are limited to 53 characters.

First, let's add the release name that we initially removed back to the service's labelSelectors field. Once done, the Kubernetes service (kube-proxy) will start sending traffic to pods managed by the new release ?hello-world? only. Next, delete the orphaned ReplicaSet and the incorrectly named Helm v2 and v3 releases.

A Release is an instance of a chart running in a Kubernetes cluster. One chart can often be installed many times into the same cluster. And each time it is installed, a new release is created.

Chart names should use lower case letters and numbers, and start with a letter. Hyphens (-) are allowed, but are known to be a little trickier to work with in Helm templates (see issue #2192 for more information). Neither uppercase letters nor underscores should be used in chart names.
