Chart Photo Permit For Free

A permit is required when shooting at any of monuments on the National Mall, as well as most other parks and public locations in DC. In this post, I'll be explaining why permits are important, who needs one, how to obtain it, and additionally how to handle it during your session.

The Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors requires that any persons engaged in the business or activity of filming, videotaping, or otherwise producing motion pictures or still photography for television or public exhibition at any place, must obtain a Film Permit.

Tripods are permitted everywhere on the National Mall, with the exception of the interior spaces of the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials. Nighttime tripod use is also permitted. To request a permit application for filming on the National Mall, contact the National Park Service Public Affairs Office at (202) 619-7225.

One permit is good for one monument. So if you want to shoot at say the Lincoln Memorial, and the Jefferson Memorial, you will have to apply for two permits. Most of the popular monuments, like the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument and the Tidal Basin, do require a photography permit.

Requirements. Film permits are required for any commercial production filming or still shoots within the Malibu city limits.

Pictures or videos taken by the visiting public documenting their visit do not require a permit. National Mall and Memorial Parks and the other DC area National Park Service parks require a permit for all photography and filming that is not categorized as general visitor use.

It's simple. A film permit is required when the project has any commercial value.For all of the YouTubers out there, since the videos you're creating are considered commercial, you're going to need a permit too.

A film (or stills) permit allows you to legally carry out your production in the region that gave the permit. A permit is always issued prior to the shooting, after submitting details about the shoot including locations, dates, times, equipment, cast and crew, use of special effects, pyrotechnics, actions and stunts.
