The charts are based on sale via iTunes either via the app on your PC, your iPhone or some other internet enabled-device.

The average Official Number 1 Single was streamed over 7.3 million times a week in 2022, while you needed 2.5 million streams to make the Top 20 and 1.7 million streams to make the Top 40. Likewise, you have had to sell around 30,000 copies (including stream equivalents) to become the Official Number 1 Album.

The Official Big Top 40 from Global is compiled from a mix of Apple Music streaming and iTunes sales data from across the week, plus airplay data from the radio stations which the show is broadcast on.

An artist generally needs between 450 and 500 album sales (pure) to make the Hot 100 or Billboard singles chart. For streaming, a musician needs much more: between 562,500 and 1,687,500 streams.
