There are several ways to make a field required in Salesforce. The best method depends on the use-case. Page Layouts: Making a field required on a page layout ensures that users cannot save a record without filling in that field.

Just need to go to Schema Builder and select the object. The list of fields can be scrolled through. The Required fields have a red mark on them.

Basic Validation ? First of all, the form must be checked to make sure all the mandatory fields are filled in. It would require just a loop through each field in the form and check for data. Data Format Validation ? Secondly, the data that is entered must be checked for correct form and value.

Required fields should be indicated with either a symbol or text, not just color. When providing an indicator for a required field, it should be placed right before the form field. This allows a screen reader to read the indicator to a screen reader user right before the user activates the field.

Steps - Go to setup - click object manager - find and choose contact - click fields and relationships - click the drop-down (extreme left side of the row) - click edit - Scroll down the page - In general options, uncheck 'Always require a value in this field in order to save a record' - click save.
