Microsoft role-based (associate and expert) and specialty certifications are valid for one (1) year from the date that you complete all requirements to earn that certification. To prevent your certification from expiring you must renew the certification before the certification expiration date.

MOS (Microsoft Office Specialist) credentials expire 3 years from attainment. However, remain valuable as long as companies are using the application- and version-specific technologies addressed through each MOS exam.

Just because you use Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, or Access regularly doesn't mean that it's worth getting certified. It might be worth taking a course or two in using a Microsoft Office product. But there's probably little reason to spend the extra time and money to go for the certification exam(s).
