There are four different types of section breaks that you can insert. They are Next Page, Continuous, Odd Page, and Even Page. A Next Page section break inserts a page break, but also creates two separate sections of the document so that each section can have its own unique page layout.

To insert a section break: Place the insertion point where you want to create the break.On the Page Layout tab, click the Breaks command, then select the desired section break from the drop-down menu.A section break will appear in the document.

Insert a page break Place the cursor where you want to start a new page. Select Insert > Page Break.

You can use section breaks to change the layout or formatting of pages in your document. To change formatting in a document, insert a section break at the beginning of where you want the change. Set up the formatting change just past the new section break.
