Footers are located in the margin area at the bottom of a page. Headers and footers generally contain document information, such as the file name, author, date created, page numbering and the like. To make a different footer in Word for the first page: Click on the Insert menu. Click on Footer. Choose the footer style that you want to use. If you don't want to use any of the footer styles, click on Edit Footer. Check the Different First Page checkbox. Your first footer will now have the label First Page Footer.

Select Layout > Breaks > Next Page. Double-click the header or footer on the first page of the new section. Click Link to Previous to turn it off and unlink the header or footer from the previous section. Note: Headers and footers are linked separately.
