The class contains a list of all the characteristics we have created. It is created under the class type 032 which is the class type for release strategy.

Release procedure with classification means the Purchase requsition can be released both at item level & at the header level. Release procedure with out classification can also be used for PR which is used for item level release only. all other external documents cannot be relesed with classification.

Requisitions without classification can have Account Assignment category, Material Group, Plant and Total Value only as characteristics, whereas in with classification you can define your own characteristics. Release procedure without classification is possible for internal purchasing docs.

The release strategy defines the approval process for purchase requisitions. The strategy specifies the release codes with which a complete purchase requisition or a requisition item must be released (approved) and the sequence in which approvals have to be given.

The release prerequisites indicate the sequence in which a purchase requisition or an external purchasing document must be approved via the release codes. The release prerequisites are defined in the Purchasing Customizing facility (in the release strategy).
