Canceling your Sprint Flex lease If you decide to cancel your lease before the 18 month lease term is up, Sprint will require you to pay the remaining lease paymentsas well as the Purchase Option Price. After this, you are free to leave and take your device with you.

Simply sign a lease deal, and in exchange for a low monthly payment, you get a phone you can use, plus the option to upgrade at any time. Just keep paying the flat monthly fee, and you can turn in your old phone for a new one every 12 months. One carrier even lets you swap phones up to three times per year.

The early termination fee is prorated, which means that as more time passes, you will pay less to terminate the fee. The way Sprint figures out the fee is that it charges $20 per month for each month that's left on your contract with a maximum fee of $350 and a minimum of $100 per device.

At the end of the leasing period, Sprint will still own the device; if you want to keep it for yourself, you can pay an additional amount in order to purchase it (usually between $150 - $200 or 25% of the purchase price).

Leasing a phone is similar in concept to monthly installments, as you pay a specified amount per monththe main difference between the two is that you won't keep the phone at the end of a lease, whereas the phone is yours when paid for through monthly installments.
