The Subtle Signature The simplest way to tone down your watermark is to keep your logo compact, and set the opacity to below 50% look under the Layers palette in Photoshop for the relevant slider. This allows some of the underlying image to seep through, while maintaining a clear mark.

Anywhere between 500 and 1000 pixels wide will work for most image sizes. Drag and drop your logo into your new document or select the text tool to add text. You can use any colour.

The most common position of a watermark is in the bottom right corner. This way it doesn't take away the attention from your image. However, if you position your watermark in any of four corners, it makes it easier for thieves to crop it out. Watermarks are secure only if you use them properly.

Add a layer - open the photo in Photoshop that you're adding a watermark to and select 'Layer'. Add a new layer and call it 'Watermark'. Write your text - using the 'Text' tool, click the image and type the text for your watermark - usually your name, sometimes accompanied by the copyright symbol.
