A driver may hold a class A, B, C, D, E, F, G, G1, G2, M, M with L condition, M1, M2, or M2 with L condition driver's licence, or combination. A full class G licence is required to apply for a Class A, B, C, D, E or F licence. A novice driver may not hold a classified licence or a driving instructor's licence.

After holding the intermediate license for 180 days or once the driver turns 18 years old, the driver will be eligible for a full license, provided that the required driver education course has been completed (see Driver Education Training).

After gaining experience driving with a learner's permit, maintaining a conviction-free or Probation before Judgement (PBJ)-free driving record, and completing a standardized driver education course, new drivers are eligible for a provisional license. Requirements: Minimum age is 16 years and 6 months.
