Construct Footnote Form For Free

Using footnotes or endnotes involves placing a superscript number at the end of a sentence with information (paraphrase, quotation or data) that you wish to cite. The superscript numbers should generally be placed at the end of the sentence to which they refer.

A copyright permission footnote is used to give credit to the source for long quotations, tables or graphs, and other lengthy information within a text. Both types of footnotes will appear at the bottom of the printed page. There are three main formats used today: APA style, MLA style, and Chicago Manual style.

If you want to change the formatting of the footnote text at the bottom of the page, select the Footnote Text Style. Click Modify, and then change the formatting options (font, size, and so on). For even more formatting options, click the Format button in the lower-left corner.

When using either type of footnote, insert a number formatted in superscript following almost any punctuation mark. Footnote numbers should not follow dashes ( ? ), and if they appear in a sentence in parentheses, the footnote number should be inserted within the parentheses.

The footnote/endnote begins with the same superscript number as the one that appears in the paper and is followed by a period. Footnotes/endnotes always include a specific page number or numbers where the cited information can be found. The first footnote/endnote to a source provides the full publishing information.

Footnote Basic format: x. Author's First name Last name, ?Article Title,? Journal Title Volume, Issue No. (Year): page number.

Footnote or Endnote (N): Firstname Lastname, Title of Web Page, Name of Website, Publishing Organization, publication or revision date if available, access date if no other date is available, URL.

Insert footnotes and endnotes Click where you want to reference to the footnote or endnote. On the References tab, select Insert Footnote or Insert Endnote. Enter what you want in the footnote or endnote. Return to your place in the document by double-clicking the number or symbol at the beginning of the note.
