Use Form 1040-ES to figure and pay your estimated tax. Estimated tax is the method used to pay tax on income that is not subject to withholding (for example, earnings from self-employment, interest, dividends, rents, alimony, etc.).

When do I have to file Form 1040-ES? If you pay your estimated taxes online, you will only use the Form 1040-ES worksheet to determine your estimated payments. You will not need to include the actual form along with your payment. Paying online is safer and more secure for you.

An IP PIN is not the same thing as a taxpayer identification number, such as a Social Security Number, individual taxpayer ID, or an Adoption Taxpayer Identification Number (ATIN). To get an IP PIN that is lost, forgotten, or never arrived in a CP01A Notice, use the IP PIN request portal at IRS.gov.

Generate 20xx Estimates (1040-ES) Enter the amount to be paid in each quarter. Click the View icon in the toolbar at the top of the window to open the vouchers in PDF form. In your PDF viewer, select File then Print.
