To choose a format or to control the starting number, go to Header & Footer > Page Number > Format Page Numbers. To change the numbering style, select a different style in Number format. To change the starting page number of the newly created section, select Start at, and then enter a number. Select OK.

Select Layout > Breaks > Next Page. Double-click the header or footer on the first page of the new section. Click Link to Previous to turn it off and unlink the header or footer from the previous section. Note: Headers and footers are linked separately.

To create a different header or footer for part of a document, you'll need to divide the document into sections, and then break the connection between the header or footer in the current section and the previous one. To allow this, you must disable the feature that repeats footers across sections. Double-click a footer that follows a section break. A tab labeled "Same as Previous" appears above its right side. Click "Design" in the Word ribbon. Click "Link to Previous" in the ribbon's Navigation group to deselect it.
