You may decline to sign when: You received an envelope meant for another person. You're signing an agreement, such as an apartment lease, and some of the terms you agreed to during your discussion with the leasing agent are missing or incorrect.

Provide a reason why you are declining to sign to the envelope sender. The sender of the document may require you to provide a reason why you're declining. The text you enter is emailed to the sender and is recorded as part of the envelope history. After providing a reason why you are declining, select DECLINE TO SIGN.

The Approve field does not add any information on the document, but it records and "Approved" action in the Document history. For your recipient to decline the document, you can add the Decline field, or they can use the Decline to Sign option.

You can add both signature fields on the envelope and assign them to your recipient, but only set one up as required, the other can be set up as optional. If you set fields as optional they can be skipped and the signer can decide whether or not they want to fill them out.
