Delete Data Contracts in Google Drive For Free

Once you have deleted your files in Google Drive, they will be sent to your Trash. Files in Trash will be automatically deleted after 30 days. However, files in Trash still count against your storage limit, so you should empty your Trash after deleting.

To create more storage space, delete unnecessary files in each app and then empty the Trash in each app, as items in the Trash count toward your storage. Also remove any hidden data from apps in Google Drive: On your computer, go to drive.google.com.

However, if you're under the impression that transferring unwanted files and folders to Trash will reduce your storage burden, you're wrong. Google Drive Trash does take a bite out of your 15 GB storage limit. The only way to free up space is to empty the Trash folder by permanently deleting the items in it.
