Delete Invoice For Free

Is it legal to delete invoices in invoicing software? Generally speaking, you should never delete an invoice. In cases where you want to delete or amend an invoice, a credit note will usually suffice as the solution. A credit note allows you to effectively - and legally - cancel an invoice.

Void - If there was an error in a customer invoice and if you do not want to delete it, you can simply void it. Voided invoice will not be removed from the organization, hence it will not affect the invoice numbering sequence.Bad debts usually means any specific invoice that becomes uncollectible.

If you want to cancel an invoice, you can void it. Voiding an invoice cancels the invoice without deleting it, thereby preserving historical information for any future audits. When you void an invoice, any settled payments will be removed, and the corresponding payment will be unsettled.

This is always preferable to deleting an invoice. You can't delete or cancel an invoice that has a payment or credit applied to it. You need to remove those first. If a payment has been made towards an invoice you want to cancel, create a credit note instead.
