For that, uncheck the Required checkbox on the field and then open the page layout where you want to make it required and then double click on the field and check the Required checkbox.

If you try to take out from the page layout, you can't, because it is standard field. I found the solution that you can hide the standard field with help of 'Field level security' and make it invisiable from the page layout. So the case object record will not show the unwanted standard fields.

One way to make disable the field is goto preview of the iView in Content Administration. CtrlShiftRight click in that preview. Here you can find the options to disable or invisible etc for each field.
