Starting March 1st, 2022, Microsoft will no longer charge customers for the dial-in option for Teams meetings. Attending Teams meetings (online, digital meeting platform from Microsoft, for those who don't know) requires access (over the internet) to the Microsoft servers which host Teams meetings.

Meeting attendees who dial in don't need any licenses assigned to them or other setup. After attendees have joined meeting, they can also dial out and invite other callers into a Teams meeting. See Dialing out from a Teams meeting so other people can join it for more information.

What is the licensing cost for phones in a shared space with Microsoft Teams Voice? For shared phones, there is an $8 common area phone license and then you will need to add a calling plan on to that which is $12 / month. You will not need any additional Office 365 licenses for the shared phone.

Teams subscriptions include Teams Phone and enable calls from one Teams app to another. Making and receiving calls to and from landlines and mobile phones on the PSTN in Teams is available with an add-on such as Teams Phone Standard or Teams Phone with Calling Plan or is included in Microsoft 365 E5.

If you'd like to include a dial-in number and conference ID for your Teams meeting, do one of the following: Schedule the Teams meeting from Outlook. Those meeting details are automatically included. Schedule the meeting from Teams, but make sure PSTN conferencing is turned on for your account.

For Audio Conferencing, you need a license for each user who will set up dial-in meetings. Audio Conferencing is included in Office 365 Enterprise E5 licenses and as an add-on.

In the Action pane under Product licenses, click Edit. On the Product Licenses page, turn on Audio Conferencing and then click Save. For more on licensing, see Microsoft Teams add-on licensing. After you assign the license, Microsoft might not appear initially in the list as an audio conferencing provider.
