Design Footnote Title For Free

Add a footnote Click Insert > Insert Footnote. Word inserts a reference mark in the text and adds the footnote mark at the bottom of the page. Type the footnote text.

Go to the Insert menu and click Footnote to open the Footnote and Endnote box. Select the options you want in the Footnote and Endnote box. You can choose between footnotes and endnotes, numbering format, custom marks and symbols, a starting number, and whether to apply the numbering to the whole document.

Footnote Basic format: x. Author's first name Last name, Title in Italics and in Headline Style (City of Publication: Publisher, Year), page number if relevant.

When formatting footnotes in the latter manner, center and bold the label ?Footnotes? then record each footnote as a double-spaced and indented paragraph. Place the corresponding superscripted number in front of each footnote and separate the numeral from the following text with a single space.

Footnotes will always appear at the bottom of the page where the reference occurs and endnotes go on a separate page after the body of the paper. Place the note number at the end of the sentence in which the reference occurs and after any punctuation; remember to superscript it.

If you want to change the formatting of the footnote text at the bottom of the page, select the Footnote Text Style. Click Modify, and then change the formatting options (font, size, and so on). For even more formatting options, click the Format button in the lower-left corner.

On the References tab, select Insert Footnote or Insert Endnote.

In both MLA and APA, a footnote example includes the citation found at the bottom, or foot, of the page corresponding to the superscript number found in the body of the work. The footnote might consist of the type of work and author's name along with other information related to the type of citation.
