Add text to a drawing page Select Insert > Text Box. Select either Draw Horizontal Text Box or Vertical Text Box. Select the place on the drawing page where you want to add the text. Type in the text.

Go to app.diagrams.net. Click Arrange > Insert > Advanced > From Text. From the drop down selector next to the Close button, select Diagram. Select all of the sample text in the dialog and paste in your own text.

Double click on an empty area of your diagram and choose the text option from the shape picker. Text size, font and color can be altered in the Text tab of the format panel. Double-click on the text to get enhanced text options in the Format panel.

Right-click the selection rectangle of the shape you want to change. On the shortcut menu, click Format AutoShape. In the Format AutoShape dialog box, click the Text Box tab. Under Text Box Margins, adjust the measurements to increase or decrease the distance between the text and the outer border of the shape.

Tip: Double click on text to edit the text and select part of a label. Then, only the Text tab is displayed (right) as you are not editing a shape. Compare the different style options below when a shape is selected (left) and when a connector is selected (right).

Add text to shapes, connectors, and pages to give diagrams more meaning. Select a shape or a connector.... Select Insert > Text Box. Select either Draw Horizontal Text Box or Vertical Text Box. Select the place on the drawing page where you want to add the text. Type in the text. Select a blank area of the drawing page.

Edit a shape by selecting it, then click Edit Shape on the Style tab of the format panel. Note that you cannot edit all shapes, only those that are in XML format.
