Pouring gasoline or motor oil down a drain is not only a bad idea, but it is illegal in many areas. These substances can easily make their way into surface and ground water supplies and then contaminate drinking water. One gallon of motor oil can contaminate up to 250,000 gallons of drinking water.

Never pour gasoline into storm drains, into septic systems, or on the ground. Never dispose of gasoline in regular household garbage or recycling. Dispose of gasoline through your local household hazardous waste program. Contact your town or county government for more information.

The products are removed from our stores, consolidated, and then delivered directly to one of our contracted recycling partners. From there, the recyclers determine if the product can be repaired, repurposed or recycled.

This week we introduced changes in our in-store recycling program that allow us to continue to provide this service for our customers. We are now charging customers $25 for each TV and computer monitor they recycle at our stores.

Degradation occurs from the get-go but most gas stays fresh for a month or two without issue. However, gas that is more than two month old is generally OK to use with only minor decreases in performance. Gas that is older than a year can cause issues, like engine knocking, sputtering and clogged injectors.

However, most electronic waste still ends up in landfills or gets incinerated, wasting useful resources and releasing toxic chemicals and other pollutants ? such as lead, mercury, and cadmium ? into the soil, groundwater, and atmosphere to the detriment of the environment.

If you're recycling a product with memory storage, be sure to wipe your personal data from its hard or flash drive. No time? No worries ? we require our recycling partners to wipe all data from these items. Don't bring in any products for recycling that are contaminated with food or infested with household pests.

You should never throw away electronics with your regular trash. Many of the components?especially batteries?can be harmful or dangerous if not disposed of properly. That doesn't happen if you're just taking it to the curb. Sell, donate, or recycle, but don't trash an old phone.
