Discard Text License For Free

When you remove the license, all that user's data is held for 30 days. You can access the data, or restore the account if the user comes back. After 30 days, all the user's data (except for documents stored on SharePoint Online) is permanently deleted from Microsoft 365 and can't be recovered.

In the admin center, go to the Billing > Your products page, and select the Products tab. Select the subscription from which you want to remove licenses. On the details page, select Remove licenses.

In the admin center, go to the Billing > Your products page. On the Products tab, find the subscription for which you want to buy or remove licenses.If you want to reduce the number of licenses, at the top of the Buy licenses pane, select remove licenses.

Select Office 365 settings under the My app settings heading in the panel that pops up. Click Install status on the left hand sidebar. All of your current installations of the Office suite will be listed on this page. Click Deactivate on the install you are no longer using.

In Office 365, user mailboxes are tied directly to the Office 365 Exchange Online license. Therefore, assigning an Exchange Online license to a user will automatically provision a user mailbox. Similarly, removing the Exchange Online license will automatically remove the Exchange mailbox from the user.

If you remove a user's license but don't delete the account, you retain access to the content in the user's OneDrive site. If you delete their account you have 30 days to access a former user's OneDrive data. If you don't restore a user account within 30 days their OneDrive content is deleted.

Open Control Panel > Credential Manager. Select Windows Credentials. Remove all credentials listed for Office by selecting the drop-down arrow next to each one, and select Remove. Check for and delete any values present under the following registry key: HKEYCURRENTUSER\Software\Microsoft\Protected Storage System.
