On the Page Layout tab, in the Page Setup group, click Line Numbers. Click Line Numbering Options, and then click the Layout tab. In the Apply to list, click Selected sections. Click Line Numbers.

In Bash, $LINENO contains the line number where the script currently executing. If you need to know the line number where the function was called, try $BASH_LINENO . Note that this variable is an array.

To activate the line numbering, set the number flag: Press the Esc key to switch to command mode. Press : (colon) and the cursor will move at the bottom left corner of the screen. Type set number or set nu and hit Enter . :set number. Line numbers will be displayed at the left side of the screen:

On the menu bar, select Tools > Options > Text Editor, and then select either the language you're using or All Languages to turn on line numbers in all supported programming languages. You can also type line number in the Search box, and then choose Turn line numbers on or off from the results.

Wc. The wc command is used to find the number of lines, characters, words, and bytes of a file. To find the number of lines using wc, we add the -l option. This will give us the total number of lines and the name of the file.

Use Find Action ??A (on Mac) or Control+Shift+A (on Windows/Linux) to open the Find Action dialog and search for "Show line numbers" OFF/ON for a file. Or open Preferences > Editor > General > Appearance to turn "Show line numbers" on/off.

To do so: Press the Esc key if you are currently in insert or append mode. Press : (the colon). The cursor should reappear at the lower left corner of the screen next to a : prompt. Enter the following command: set number. A column of sequential line numbers will then appear at the left side of the screen.

To see the line numbers on idle, go to the Edit Menu option on the current window. Under this, choose the go to line option. Here, a display box will open, which will represent the current line number. Another way to see the line numbers is in the Options menu.
