Can you recycle envelopes with plastic windows? If your envelope has a plastic address window it CAN still be recycled. Modern recycling machinery is well equipped to handle this with heating elements that melt adhesives and screen out the plastic windows.

Are all Post-it® paper products recyclable? Yes. 3M has conducted recycling trials on Post-it® Notes at recycled paper mills. The adhesive on the paper does not interfere with paper recycling because the adhesive is substantially removed in the paper deinking process.

If the padded envelope is padded with what looks like shredded newsprint, you can toss the whole thing in your recycling bin. If the envelope is padded with bubble wrap or plastic, the envelope cannot be recycled in your curbside bin. However, the plastic can usually be returned where you would take your plastic bags.

The adhesives used in our stamps are biodegradable, and our Priority Mail and Priority Mail Express boxes and envelopes are fully recyclable. So they can go right in the recycling bin.

If you can't find a reuse opportunity, Bubble Wrap is recyclable. However, curbside recycling is limited because most communities do not pick up plastic bags and film, which can damage sorting machinery. Many grocery and other stores in the U.S. offer a plastic bag and film recycling bin at the front of the store.

How do I recycle it? If your paper mailer is padded with bubble wrap, then you need to separate the paper layer from the bubble wrap lining before the paper can be recycled. Only the paper should go in the recycling bin. However, stamps, tape and labels do not need to be removed from the paper.

(Moisture-activated adhesives?like those used on lick-to-seal envelopes?will dissolve in the water and are fine to throw in the bin.)

Instead of tossing them in your curbside recycling bin, store your plastic mailers with other plastic grocery or retail bags. In the spirit of recycling and conserving the environment, many stores and retail centers are now acting as collection points for this type of recyclable plastic.
