You must have a high school diploma or be a high school junior or senior in an early education/child development Career and Technical Program. Any time before you apply: Complete 120 clock hours of professional education covering the eight CDA Subject Areas.

In order to earn the permit, students must complete the following: 16 units of general education, specifically a class in each of the following areas: English, Science or Math, Social Science, and Humanities/Fine Arts. Additional work experience with young children (175 days of 3 hours per day within 4 years).

To obtain the CDA credential, you must train in various CDA-approved subjects, work a designated number of hours with children, and take the CDA exam. The CDA certificate requires you to build a portfolio and complete a verification visit before receiving your credential.

Completion of 24 semester units of course work in early childhood education or child development, including at least one three-semester unit (or four-quarter unit) course in each of the following core areas: Child/human growth and development. Child, family, and community, or child and family relations.

Professional Education ? Applicants must complete 120 clock hours of professional early childhood education, including 10 hours in each of the following eight CDA® Subject Areas. Have 480 hours of work experience working with children in the age group matching your type CDA® application.

A work permit is required before anyone under the age of 16 is allowed to work in any job with the exception of agriculture or domestic service work.

Minors under 18 may not work more than 8 hours a day, 6 days a week. Minors 14 and 15 may not work more than 40 hours a week. 16 and 17 year-olds may not work more than 48 hours a week.

WORKING PERMITS: Every minor 14 through 17 years of age must have a working permit unless otherwise stated in Chapter 4109.

During the first 12 months after getting a license, they cannot drive other teens unless accompanied by a parent or guardian, a licensed driver age 25 or older, or a licensed or certified driving instructor. They may drive siblings to school, for example, but a note is recommended. But they cannot drive friends.
