Do one of the following: For a line break: Click. in the toolbar, then choose Line Break. You can also choose Insert > Line Break. For a page break: Click. in the toolbar, then choose Page Break. You can also choose Insert > Page Break.

Show or Hide Formatting Symbols Click Home tab. Click Show/Hide ¶ button. The hidden formatting symbols are now shown. These symbols represent spaces, new paragraphs, page breaks, and other bits of text and page formatting. Click Show/Hide ¶ button again.

View page breaks Select the row that is underneath the row where you want the page to break. Select the column that is to the right of the column where you want the page to break. On the Page Layout tab, in the Page Setup group, click Breaks, and then click Insert Page Break.

Page breaks are used to end a page without filling it with text. To make sure the title page of your thesis/dissertation is separate from the signature page, for example, insert a page break after the graduation date on the title page.

Page Breaks/Section Breaks For page breaks, place the cursor at the end of the text before you want to insert the page break, and then click on Page (Go to Layout ribbon ? then open Breaks ? select Page). For section breaks, place cursor at the end of the text before you need the section break and click Next page.

Go to Layout > Breaks > Page. Click or tap in the document where you want a page break. Go to Insert > Page Break.

Always force a page break before a paragraph Select the paragraph that you want to follow the page break. On the Home tab in Word, or on the FORMAT TEXT tab in an Outlook email, select the Paragraph Dialog Box launcher . Select the Line and Page Breaks tab. Under Pagination, select Page break before. Select OK.

To ensure that the new chapter does appear on a separate page, insert a page break immediately following the text at the end of the chapter. To add a page break, click Insert, and Page Break, then OK. A page break can also be created by holding down the Control key, then pressing Enter.

You can't insert a section break in a layout document because layout documents don't have sections; each page it its own section. See Creating Sections: In a page layout document, each page is one section. You can use the predefined sections as they are, or you can modify or remove them one page at a time.
