Texas residents and non-residents under the age of 17 must have the Youth Hunting License. They do not need state hunting endorsement requirements, except for the Reptile and Amphibian Endorsement. Visit the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department website for more details.

Youth applicants must be under 17 years old. Except federal age requirements for the Youth Waterfowl Season define a youth as someone 15 years old or younger. There is no minimum age for youth in these categories. Applicants under 17 years old must apply with a supervising adult that is at least 18 years old.

A hunting license is required of any person (resident or nonresident), of any age, to hunt any animal, bird, frog or turtle in this state, except the following: coyotes, if the coyotes are attacking, about to attack, or have recently attacked livestock, domestic animals, or fowl.

Texas Drawn Hunts are lotteries for the opportunity to hunt managed lands, that are otherwise closed off to hunters. You can hunt just about every species that is hunt-able in Texas, and you can hunt every region and type of terrain that Texas has to offer.

Youth applicants must apply with a non-hunting supervising adult who is at least 18 years old. During these hunts, only the youth will be allowed to hunt. All youth hunters under 12 years of age must be directly supervised by an adult and remain within normal voice distance.

Texas simply charges $3 or $10 for the application, with permit fees only coming into play if a hunter is drawn.? And those permit fees are nominal. Adult applicants selected for special permit and national wildlife refuge hunts are required to pay an additional fee that ranges from $80 to $130, depending on the hunt.
