On the Page Layout or Layout tab, click Columns. At the bottom of the list, choose More Columns. In the Columns dialog box, adjust the settings under Width and spacing to choose your column width and the spacing between columns. If you want columns of varying widths, deselect the checkbox next to Equal column width.

With the cursor just before the first entry of the column, press Ctrl + Alt + Shift + End . This will enlarge the cursor over the full column. Now press Ctrl + Shift + Right and the full column will be selected.

Keep the cursor at the starting point and while pressing the Alt key, drag the mouse or use either the keyboard arrow keys to select text in column mode. If you want to see the option in Notepad++, you can go to Edit > Column Mode... That's all.
