Establish Watermark License For Free

Registering your image with the US Copyright Office isn't a necessity. But we highly encourage it because registering proves that you own the picture in question. In legal cases, this serves as evidence. Furthermore, if you sue and do not register, you are only entitled to actual damages.

On the Design tab, select Watermark. In the Insert Watermark dialog, select Text and either type your own watermark text or select one, like DRAFT, from the list. Then, customize the watermark by setting the font, layout, size, colors, and orientation. If you don't see the watermark, click View > Print Layout.

To make the copyright character on a Windows system, simply press the Alt key and type the number 0169. On a Mac system, press Option+G. You can work through the options in this window to tweak the look of your simple text watermark.

Add a layer - open the photo in Photoshop that you're adding a watermark to and select 'Layer'. Add a new layer and call it 'Watermark'. Write your text - using the 'Text' tool, click the image and type the text for your watermark - usually your name, sometimes accompanied by the copyright symbol.

All you have to do is to fill out an online form, upload files (a single or multiple photographs) you want to register and pay a fee. The copyright protection is available to both published and unpublished works.

Has your document been protected? You can't add a custom watermark to a protected document - you have to unprotect it first.
